Despite the team’s success, Pant’s own form remains under the scanner. He’ll be keen to silence doubters and let his bat do the talking. Adding to the drama, Pant will be up against his former coach Ricky Ponting for the first time, with the Australian legend now part of the Punjab Kings setup.
The contest will also feature the two costliest players in IPL history — Pant and Punjab’s captain Shreyas Iyer, who was snapped up for Rs 26.75 crore. While Pant has struggled, Iyer has thrived, smashing a blazing unbeaten 97 off 42 balls in their win over Gujarat Titans.
