Pakistan will begin three-match T20I series against Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided against using DRS technology during the three-match T20 home series against Bangladesh due to cost issues. A reliable PCB source said due to the lack of interest in the series which begins on Wednesday the Board had decided against having the DRS technology.
“It is not cost effective for the board or broadcasters to have DRS technology in the series,” the source said.
The PCB were unable to implement DRS in the latter half of PSL 2025 season as well when the T20 league resumed after a break of one week. The staff that runs DRS in Pakistan during PSL 2025 season is mostly India and they refused to come back to Pakistan after recent India-Pakistan border tension after India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Bangladesh are missing some key players due to various reasons including their experienced left arm pacer Mustafizur Rehman who injured his thumb while playing in the IPL 2025. A few Bangladesh players and members of the support staff have also opted out of the tour because of security concerns with Liton Das leading them in the three matches.
Bangladesh reached Lahore after suffering an embarrassing 2-1 loss against UAE in Sharjah in a T20 series. The PCB and broadcasters also didn’t have DRS technology for the second phase of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which was held after the recent border conflict with India.
Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed remains out with a lingering ankle injury that has kept him away from competitive cricket for two months, while Mustafizur Rahman sustained a thumb injury during his final Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 appearance for Delhi Capitals (DC) last week.
“You miss your senior seamers,” Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons said, as quoted from ESPNcricinfo website.
“As we saw, how Fizz (Mustafizur) was bowling in the IPL then. We will miss him. It is also a chance for somebody to take his place in this series. Let’s hope one of the bowlers decide that he wants to fill in for Fizz in this series. Our bowling is usually our stronger suit in this format. But having two senior bowlers, Taskin and Fizz, out, then it balances off,” he added.
