Dhanashree Verma recntly opened up about her separation with India star cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and how it affected her family the most in an interview with House of Bomaby.

Dhanashree Verma and cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal divorced after ending their five-year marriage, turning their beautiful love story into a painful chapter in both their lives.
The situation worsened when Chahal showed up in court wearing a T-shirt that read, “Be your own sugar daddy”. Now, in a heartfelt conversation, Dhanashree has opened up about her separation from Chahal and how it affected her family.
Dhanashree revealed that trolling impacted her parents the most
Dhanashree admitted that the divorce left her feeling “confused.” While she managed to cope with the online trolling to some extent, it was her parents who felt the impact the most.
“I had to stay strong to make my parents feel better. We belong to this generation, so we know not to pay attention to negative comments, but how do you explain that to your parents? My parents’ friends would call them, ‘Yeh kya ho gaya?’ It was a delicate situation because I also needed strength and so did my parents,” she said in an interview with Humans of Bombay
She shared how stressful things became at home, mentioning that there were days her mother would break down and her parents would avoid answering calls because of the constant harassment. “It was so overwhelming and not required because parents feel so much pressure from society. And then when they have to deal with something like this, how do they fix that?” she said, adding that she often had to strictly tell them not to answer calls.
Dhanashree on Chahal’s strong public presence
Talking about Chahal’s stronger public presence, Dhanashree praised her parents for supporting her. They reassured her daily that leaving the marriage was the right decision. “To even take that decision requires a lot of courage. Knowing that you are with someone who is more powerful than you, to even come to that decision of leaving that partnership requires a lot of courage, and my parents reminded me of that every day. They kept telling me how proud they are that I made this decision. It’s not easy,” she shared
Amid the online backlash, Dhanashree chose to focus on her work instead of reacting. She acknowledged that she is still in the process of healing but deliberately opted for silence, saying “I haven’t healed completely but I am working towards it. Silence is not easy, it takes a lot of a person to just stay silent,” she said
