Amitabh Bachchan’s Flop Film
The movie was such a huge flop that even Amitabh’s wife Jaya Bachchan couldn’t tolerate watching it. The film we are talking about is Mrityudaata. This film was produced by Amitabh Bachchan’s company ABCL. Dimple Kapadia and Karisma Kapoor played the lead ladies in the film opposite Amitabh Bachchan.
At the screening of this film, Jaya Bachchan attended but left without watching the entire movie, later remarking that it would not be a hit.
Mrityudaata Budget
Mrityudaata was made on a budget of Rs 14 crore. However, the film was such a huge flop that it couldn’t even recover its cost. Mrityudaata’s lifetime box office collection was Rs 8 crore. The movie failed to recover the making cost and was considered a huge disaster at the box office.
Amitabh Bachchan Took Responsibility for the Failure of His Movie
In one of his interviews, Amitabh revealed that he feels he is responsible for the failure of the movie.
Before Mrityudaata, many of Big B’s movies were not doing well at the box office, which took a big toll on the actor’s mental health. Though he wanted to make a comeback, he failed to do so.
