BJP national president JP Nadda said the saffron party, which has been in power since 2014, has over 14 crore total members, out of which about two crore are active, making it the world’s largest political party.

World’s largest political party: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a major milestone ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, becoming the world’s largest political party with a cadre strength that is equal to nearly 10 percent of India’s total population.
How many members does BJP have?
According to BJP national president JP Nadda, the saffron party, which has been in power since 2014, has over 14 crore total members, out of which about two crore are active, making it the largest political party or outfit in the world. Currently, the BJP has 240 Lok Sabha members, around 1,500 MLAs and more than 170 MLCs across the country, Nadda said.
“We are the largest political party in the world with 14 crore members. In India, we have the NDA governments in 20 states and the BJP governments in 13 states. We are the largest representative party in the country. We have 240 MPs (Lok Sabha). We have around 1,500 MLAs. We have more than 170 MLCs,” the BJP chief said while addressing a rally in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam.
What Nadda said about PM Modi’s leadership?
The BJP President hailed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA as a “responsible and responsive” regime, asserting that in the past 11 years, under PM Modi’s leadership, there has been politics of performance and accountable government.
Taking a dig at the Congress-led UPA dispensations of the past, Nadda claimed there was “politics of non-performance” under previous governments, who never fulfilled the promises made in the manifestos, and not developmental works were carried out.
He further alleged that previous regimes practiced family-based politics, corruption and appeasement, while the BJP is a party with an ideological base.
Nadda also listed out the Centre-sponsored developmental works undertaken in Andhra Pradesh, including the Rs 15,000 crore provided to the state for developing its new capital city Amaravati.
