This woman came down from 142 kgs and had an incredible weight loss transformation. Read on to know her inspiring real life weight loss journey.
Obesity is not just it. It entails several other health complications that get worse with time. For Ali Ridgely, when the doctor’s monitor read “morbidly obese”, she knew was a “heart attack waiting to happen” and she decided to reverse it. A mother from Plymouth, Ridgely weighed 142 kgs. In an interview she said, “Ultimately, I started this journey because I wanted to live life to the fullest – and that’s what I feel I can do now.”
“rI knew my weight was a problem – I’d always been bigger than my friends, but it wasn’t until I went to college and started socialising more that it began to climb. In 2018, my marriage broke down and I had a massive crisis of confidence. I tried to lose weight on my own and would make some progress, but it wouldn’t be long before it went back on again. I’d been a Slimming World member before, so I knew the plan worked for me – I just needed to make that mental shift to stick at it this time, she told Slimming World.
Ali Ridgely’s Weight Loss Transformation
Ridgely tried to reduce kilos early but somehow again gained weight. but the doctor’s visit was the last straw and then she was just at it. Started around 2019 and since has lost around 82.5 kgs. When she started, she was not allowed to exercise due to her obese body but she had to add more physical activity in her daily routine. After losing around 38 kgs, she started dance fitness classes. “I fell in love with it, and ended up completing a diploma in Exercise to Music. Now, I run my own classes twice a week! It’s great when other Slimming World members come along, as we have so much fun. I also joined a local Couch to 5K group and recently signed up for a marathon. I feel confident about keeping up these healthy habits this time,” she said.
A regular meal for Ridgely comprises of :
- Cereal with fruit and fat-free natural yogurt.
- Homemade hunter’s chicken lasagne or cheesy courgette baked risotto.
- Slimming World Hi-fi bars, a glass of red wine.
According to several studies, red wine may have certain antioxidants properties that could help with heart health. However, excess of anything is bad.
Ridgely reduced all the unhealthy fat without undergoing the knife – the bariatric surgery. She took years, took her time and today leads a healthy and happy life with her 24-year-old daughter Rosie. Ridgely’s dedication and consistency is commendable and that is the key to achieving your weight loss goals.
While this meal plan and routine worked for Ali Ridgely, weight loss charts are different for different people. As per the body’s requirement, one must consult a professional before making significant diet changes in your routine.
