Suchitra Krishnamoorthi rose to fame with the 90s hit ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan. At 49, the actress slays the fitness regime and how. It is not about high intensity workouts, strict dieting or zero cheat meal policy. It is all about eating everything you like in a controlled manner.

Losing weight is one aspect of fitness, the next important step is to maintain it. Krishnamoorthi shares how it is not always easy for women after they reach a certain age to maintain fitness. But it is not impossible. According to the actress, the key mantra is to eat what you love but in moderation.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s Diet Routine

For Krishnamoorthi, her gut needs extra precaution owing to her ulcer surgery in the last year. She is a vegetarian who loads herself with probiotics for a healthy gut microbiome. From parathas to pakoras, her diet is all inclusive but the quantity is something she is always mindful about.

“I am so regimented, so there is no need for cheat meals for me because I am not depriving myself of anything. My guilty pleasure would definitely be parathas or pakoras…I indulge very often in sweets. In fact, I love these vegan ice creams. I eat all that regularly, so I don’t stop myself from anything. I just try to eat in moderation because I feel if you restrict yourself too much, then life gets very severe. One must have joy in everyday living,” she said speaking with Hindustan Times for an interview.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi lives a disciplined life and is an early bird. She wakes up by 7 -8 am. Then she starts her day with lemon water. She also sips on a collagen boosting drink medically prescribed to her by her orthopaedic.

A coffee junkie at heart, she enjoys atleast 6-8 cups of joe but is guilty of it . However, her week is inclusive of health juice mixed with amla, ginger and curry leaves. She even enjoys special vegan ice creams time to time.

Early dinner is a core to her life for a healthy physical and mental health. However, she ensures that her dinners are light, low-carb salads and tofu. Protein and fibre take the front seat though.

“I naturally have been following intermittent fasting since my early years, since my 20s actually because I tend to eat my dinner by 6 pm or 7 pm latest. That is a way of life for me; after 6 pm, the next meal is at about 11 am. I tend to eat my brunch between 11 am and noon. Maybe I will have a little snack at 4 pm if I am hungry, and then I just eat my dinner. For me, it is such a lifestyle thing. Intermittent fasting has become a fad now, but it is something that traditionally Indians have followed – which is to not eat after sunset,” she says.

Coming to physical activity, Suchitra does it all. Gym class, pilates, dancing, Zumba, cardio, strength training – you name it and she does it! She ensures to atleast have 3-5 workout days in a sustainable manner.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s day is fitness with healthy lifestyle choices. One thing she emphasises on  is  a good night sleep of 7-8 hours in the least. She is someone who “cannot do without her sleep”. Underrated, but this is an cardinal choice several people fail to make.
