Manipal Hospitals, the largest hospital chain in Eastern India, has taken a significant step toward golfer wellness by inaugurating a state-of-the-art First-Aid Centre at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC). Strengthening its commitment to emergency preparedness, Manipal Hospitals has also trained and certified RCGC’s caddies in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), empowering them with life-saving skills to respond effectively in critical situations.
The First-Aid Centre was inaugurated by Golf Captain Mr. Gaurav Ghosh & Dr. Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals (East), in the presence of esteemed RCGC members and dignitaries from Manipal Hospitals. The launch event, held at the Golf Shade area, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the club’s community. The First-Aid Centre will remain open everyday between 6 am to 6 pm everyday.
The First-Aid Centre is designed to offer on-site first aid care to golfers, staff, and visitors. The First Aid centre will support immediate stabilization before patient can be moved to a hospital, especially in life-threatening scenarios.
Throughout the year Manipal Hospitals will plan various wellness drives for club members and golfers focusing on preventive health care highlighting on ways to stay healthy and fit. Manipal Hospitals shall also collaborate with RCGC in all the sporting events as a healthcare partner and for all these events a dedicated ambulance shall be stationed to tackle any emeregencies.
Acknowledging the critical need for emergency preparedness, Manipal Hospitals has launched a specialized CPR training program for RCGC caddies, empowering them to provide immediate assistance during on-course emergencies. In addition, the hospital group plans to conduct regular awareness sessions for club members and establish a dedicated physio-rehab facility on the premises to support players’ well-being and recovery.
As part of this partnership, RCGC members were also given a Privilege Card with special healthcare privileges at Manipal Hospitals:
- Periodic health awareness talks shows/interactions with senior doctors at the club
- Sports rehab facilities with Manipal’s expert physiotherapy team
- 24×7 concierge service with ‘Doctor on call’ facility
- Complimentary First Responder facility (ambulance pick up for emergencies)
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals (East), shared, “We want the people of Kolkata to stay healthy and embrace wellness the right way. As part of our commitment to preventive healthcare and accessible medical support, the First-Aid Centre at RCGC will provide crucial assistance to golfers, members, and staff. Additionally, training caddies in CPR is essential, as timely intervention can be lifesaving. Manipal Hospotals shall be opening similar First Aid centres in other leading clubs of the city soon and we shall collaborate to ensure that citizens stay healthy the right way and Manipal shall support wellness in totality.”
