The salary crisis at the Bangladesh T20 league team Durbar Rajshahi has escalated, resulting in foreign players being stuck at the hotel without return tickets, as their bus driver has secured the equipment in protest.

New Delhi: Durbar Rajshahi’s foreign players are currently stuck in their team hotel in Dhaka due to the Bangladesh T20 franchise’s inability to make payments to them, despite having missed several deadlines. As of Sunday, the players have been unable to contact the team owners, who have not answered their calls or provided return tickets.
The foreign players of Durbar Rajshahi who are currently experiencing payment difficulties include Mohammad Haris from Pakistan, Aftab Alam from Afghanistan, Mark Deyal and Miguel Cummins from the West Indies, and Ryan Burl from Zimbabwe.
Durbar Rajshahi was eliminated from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Saturday following Khulna Tigers’ victory over Dhaka Capitals on the final day of the league phase.
Cribuzz has indicated that a number of local players have departed from the hotel without receiving their payments. In contrast, the foreign players are still awaiting their payments and return tickets.
“I just spoke with Ryan Burl and others and they said that they are yet to receive their dues,” a BCB official told Cribuzz. “I am in regular contact with Rajshahi’s owner and he is just saying that he is trying to get it done. Just yesterday, Bangladesh’s sports adviser (Asif Mahmud) had met him and asked to clear the dues as soon as possible and he had agreed.
“By February 7, players should have received 75 percent of their payment while the rest should be cleared by March 8. Unfortunately that is not the case with Rajshahi which is hugely embarrassing.”
The payment delays at Durbar Rajshahi have reached a critical point, leading the bus driver to secure the kit bags. As a result, both local and foreign players were unable to access their belongings, as the driver withheld them until he received his overdue payment, according to the report.
“It’s a matter of regret and shame. If they had paid us, we would have given back the kit bag to the players. Till now, I have not opened my mouth but now I am saying that we can leave if they clear our payment,” Bus driver Mohammad Babul said.
“The kit bags of local and foreign cricketers are there in the bus but I cannot give them as large portion of our remuneration is yet not paid.”
Last month, international players declined to participate in a group-stage match in the BPL because of unpaid wages, while domestic players chose to skip training sessions.
