Good news for IPL fans! The BCCI has confirmed that the remaining matches of IPL 2025 will resume from May…., bringing back the excitement after a brief suspension.

New Delhi: The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) began with much fanfare, showcasing top-level cricket action across six venues. However, as tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s precision strikes on terror camps across the border, the tournament was abruptly suspended as a precautionary measure. After a brief pause, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now announced that IPL 2025 will resume from May 17, with a full 17-match schedule confirmed. The action will restart with a high-profile clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at 7:30 PM in Bengaluru.
Why Was IPL 2025 Suspended?
The suspension followed a red alert issued in Jammu and the cancellation of the Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings fixture in Dharamsala due to a power outage and security alerts. Just hours later, the Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror training camps in Pakistan and PoJK, responding to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. With rising border tension, the BCCI had to prioritize safety for players, fans, and all involved in the tournament.
BCCI’s Official Stand
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that the suspension was temporary and made as a “precautionary measure.” The BCCI assured that the league would continue once it was safe to do so, depending on the evolving geopolitical situation. Security agencies and state governments have since been reviewing arrangements at all host cities.
