The first semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place between reigning ODI world champions Australia and India at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. The Australians haven’t had the best of luck with the weather in this tournament with two out of their three matches in Group B getting washed out in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

In fact, Steve Smith’s side played their last full match against England on February 22 – almost two weeks back. But fans and both the sides shouldn’t have any such worries in Dubai.

The venue for the first semifinal should have perfect weather for this encounter between 2023 ODI World Cup finalists. The temperature is expected to be on the hotter side with a high of 30 degrees predicted on Tuesday afternoon with humidity around 26 per cent.

There should be strong gusty winds of around 43kmph which should keep the players comfortable in the middle in the first half of the game. The temperature is expected to dip to around 22 degrees by Tuesday evening with humidity rising slightly to 48 per cent and around 70 per cent cloud cover coming in evening. However, there is almost nil possibility of rain predicted in Dubai.

The ICC have made provision for reserve days for the Champions Trophy semifinal and final. If both teams are unable to complete a minimum of 20 overs each, the game will head into a reserve day. The tournament has witnessed at least 3 matches getting washed out due to rain but all of them have been in Pakistan – in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

If the game isn’t completed even on Reserve Day, the team which finished on top in group stages will progress to the final. That means if the first semifinal is not completed even on reserve day then Team India will move into March 9 final.

Meanwhile, the pitch for the first semifinal between India and Australia is expected to be a new one and not the one on which Indians defeated New Zealand by 44 runs on Sunday. However, it is expected to be low and slow just like the other pitches see in Dubai so far due to the dry nature of the square.

“There’s different ways we can attack the game whether we want to bat or bowl first tomorrow we’ll wait and see but yeah it certainly looks a dry surface it’s going to be quite slow I imagine and take some spins so yeah I think for us as I said before playing the spinners in the middle overs is going to be crucial for us to have success in this game,” Australian captain Steve Smith said in the pre-match press conference.
