New Delhi: MS Dhoni executed another brilliant stumping after a clever tactic from R Ashwin to dismiss Nitish Rana during the IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Nitish was in top form, smashing 81 off only 36 balls.

However, it was Ashwin’s smart strategy that resulted in his downfall. In the 12th over of the RR innings, Nitish charged down the track to attack Ashwin, but the experienced spinner bowled it wide of the off stump. The batter missed it completely and Dhoni had the easy task to completing the stumping.

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl. Less than 48 hours after Royal Challengers Bengaluru broke their stronghold in Chepauk for the first time since 2008, CSK returns to the field for their upcoming match in Guwahati.

Given the conditions at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in the last match, the Super Kings’ spinners are expected to have a better outing than they did against RCB.

Meanwhile, the Royals are still searching for their first victory of the season. Rajasthan suffered a defeat in their opening match against the power-packed Sunrisers Hyderabad and, after returning to their home ground in Assam, were beaten again by the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders.
