Mukesh Ambani can’t keep calm, gives standing ovation after Abhishek Sharma slams century against England in the 5th T20I

Mukesh Ambani’s response gained widespread attention after Abhishek Sharma stunned England with a rapid 17-ball fifty. Sharma kept the momentum going, hitting sixes effortlessly and ultimately scoring a century in just 37 balls, which included 10 sixes.

New Delhi: Abhishek Sharma delivered an outstanding performance at the Wankhede Stadium, scoring an impressive 135 runs off just 54 balls during the fifth T20I, leading to India’s significant 150-run victory over England. His innings included 13 sixes and seven fours, showcasing not only his aggressive batting style but also setting a record that helped India secure a 4-1 series win.

The 24-year-old left-handed batsman achieved the highest individual T20I score by an Indian, exceeding Shubman Gill’s 126*. He also set a new record for the most sixes hit in a T20I innings by an Indian, hitting 13 sixes, which surpassed Rohit Sharma’s former record of 10.

Abhishek appeared poised to surpass Rohit’s record for the quickest T20I century by an Indian, which is 35 balls, but ultimately fell short, achieving the feat in 37 balls. This still makes it the second-fastest century by an Indian.

During his innings, he hit several sixes, prompting an unusual response from Mukesh Ambani, India’s wealthiest individual, who was present at the match in Mumbai. Ambani, typically composed and subdued during games, even in the IPL, couldn’t help but cheer for Abhishek when he hit a six to achieve his half-century in just 17 balls.

Ambani rose to his feet and applauded the young player for his outstanding performance, as the left-handed batsman achieved the second-fastest fifty in India’s history for this format.

The entrepreneur rose once more to commend Abhishek as he achieved his century.

Abhishek distinguished himself with his diverse shot selection. He excelled against both fast and spin bowlers, confidently advancing towards Jofra Archer, executing cuts and drives with accuracy, and even hitting Jamie Overton for a six over his head to reach his fifty.

His bold strategy enabled India to achieve their highest-ever T20I powerplay score of 95/1, as well as their top total against England, reaching 247/9, which exceeded the previous record of 224/2 established in 2021.

In reaction to the scoreboard pressure, England struggled significantly. Phil Salt made an explosive start with a quick 55 runs off 23 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup fell apart.
