KKR CEO Venky Mysore’s amused reaction to Nitish Rana’s dismissal went viral.

New Delhi: Nitish Rana’s match against his former team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, during IPL 2025 in Guwahati, presented an opportunity for him to demonstrate the error of their decision not to retain him. However, his early dismissal for eight runs prompted a social media backlash from fans, referencing his past comments about loyalty.
After seven seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), including a captaincy stint in 2023, Nitish Rana was released by the franchise before the IPL mega auction. This decision upset Rana and his family, leading his wife to subtly criticize KKR on social media for a perceived lack of loyalty. Rana subsequently posted an Instagram story featuring himself in a pink shirt, a seemingly pointed response.

Following Moeen Ali’s dismissal of Rana for a low score of eight runs from nine balls on Wednesday, social media users reacted to Rana’s earlier comments about loyalty by mocking him. KKR CEO Venky Mysore’s amused reaction, a smiling clap from the stands, also gained significant online attention.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) spinners, Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali, bowled exceptionally well, restricting Rajasthan Royals to a low score of 151/9. Their combined spin attack, necessitated by Sunil Narine’s absence, proved decisive on a challenging pitch. The duo’s success in dismantling Rajasthan’s middle order, taking four wickets between them immediately after the powerplay, significantly altered the match’s momentum in KKR’s favor.
Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali delivered impressive bowling performances, conceding only 17 and 23 runs respectively while taking two wickets each.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their first victory of the season, with Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten 97 leading them to an eight-wicket win with fifteen balls remaining. His innings was the highest score by a KKR batsman in a successful run chase.
