Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has urged India to take on Pakistan in a full-fledged bilateral series to prove their cricketing supremacy. Speaking on 24 News HD, Saqlain acknowledged India’s strength but suggested that a proper contest between the two teams would settle any debates.
Call for 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is
“If you are really a good team, I think let’s play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan, then everything would be clear,” he said during a panel discussion that included former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Pakistan’s Struggles Can Be Fixed
Reflecting on Pakistan’s disappointing campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy, Saqlain admitted that all is not well within the team. However, he remains optimistic about a turnaround. “If we get our preparation right and sort out things in the right direction, then we will be in a situation where we can give solid answers to the world and India as well,” he added.
No Bilateral Cricket Between India and Pakistan
Due to political tensions, India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13, when Pakistan toured India for a short white-ball series. The two teams now only face off in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup, keeping their storied rivalry alive on the global stage.
