New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had Smriti Mandhana and his teammates laughing uncontrollably with his clever response when she inquired about a hobby his teammates often tease him about. Rohit humorously revealed that his fellow players often poke fun at him for forgetting things like his passport or wallet, although he quickly dismissed the claims, stating that it happened nearly two decades ago.
“My teammates tease me for forgetting. Forgetting is not a hobby. They say I forgot my wallet, I forget my passport which is not true. That was two decades back,” Rohit said at the BCCI awards.

Mandhana then inquired if Rohit’s daughter Samaira has taken an interest in cricket. Rohit shared that she does play a little cricket at home, but only for fun and not seriously. “We play cricket in the house. It is just for fun. Nothing to do with it. She comes back from school late and she has got classes. Just before she goes for class, we play for fun. She likes batting, just like anyone who starts playing cricket,” said Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, Rohit will next be seen in the three-match ODI series against England, but the main focus will be the ICC Champions Trophy. The Indian captain said the team fully prepared to win the Champions Trophy.
“ICC trophy comes every year now. There is no time to take the pedal off the gas. You have to be ready for the challenge. We won the T20 World Cup and now look forward to the next one. Lot of guys are playing domestic cricket, lots of them are playing international cricket as well,” he added.
India is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. They are scheduled to face Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 2. Securing victories in at least two of these three matches will ensure their qualification for the semifinals. All of India’s matches will be held in Dubai, following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s approval of the hybrid model.
