Sanjay Bangar gives his FINAL verdict on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Says ‘both these players will go…’

Rohit and Virat faced significant challenges during the Test series against New Zealand and Australia, and they will be hoping for better outcomes in the forthcoming ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy.

New Delhi: Sanjay Bangar, a former cricketer and batting coach from India, suggests that switching formats might be advantageous for the underperforming pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Their upcoming challenges in international cricket include a 3-match ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy.

Rohit and Virat have faced challenges lately, particularly during the Test series against New Zealand on home soil and the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, leading to speculation regarding their prospects in international cricket.

Star batsman Kohli was out eight times to balls outside the off stump during the series in Australia. The Indian captain scored only 31 runs across five innings and chose to withdraw from playing in the final Test in Sydney.

Bangar believes that Rohit and Virat will be remembered as two of the greatest white-ball cricketers in history, and their previous achievements in one-day cricket will boost their confidence as they prepare for the series against England and the Champions Trophy.

“See, both these players will go down as the best white ball players of all times. If you make a list of all-time greats in 50-over cricket, they are automatic choices. So, the format and their past performances would certainly give them a lot of confidence in the way they would approach,” Bangar told Star Sports.

“So, I mean, how would Rohit approach at the top of the innings is something which will be very interesting because he’s had a run of low scores. So, once you see maybe one innings or so, or maybe two innings, then we will have an idea as to the approach that both these players will be taking into the 50-over format,” Bangar added.

“And the assessment will have to be not only the ODI series, but also the Champions Trophy. So, we will have a real insight, a clear insight in their approach,” Bangar further added.
