Team India player expresses dissatisfaction with head coach Gautam Gambhir ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Find out the player’s name and the reason behind it.

New Delhi: India will start their campaign for the Champions Trophy 2025 against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. This will be the first ICC tournament that Team India will play since the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach. Ever since the former opener took over the reins from Rahul Dravid, India have not been in the best of form. There have also been rumours of discontent within the dressing room. Ahead of the mega ICC event, there seems to be trouble brewing inside the Team India dressing room once again.
Sources have exclusively confirmed to Times Now that a current India wicketkeeper is unhappy with head coach Gautam Gambhir. The player is currently not the first choice in the playing XI for ODIs. He feels that there is an external reason behind him losing his spot in the 50-over format.
KL Rahul Preferred Choice In ODIs Over Rishabh Pant
KL Rahul is currently India’s preferred wicketkeeper-batter in ODIs and has been delivering solid performances in the 50-over format, particularly during the 2023 ODI World Cup. While his recent ODI form hasn’t been outstanding, he remains a consistent presence in the playing XI. Rahul is expected to maintain his spot in the lineup for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 as well.
Rishabh Pant is the other wicketkeeper-batter in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. Even though he has cemented his place in Tests, he has not found his groove in white-ball cricket, especially in ODIs. Pant has played only one ODI since his return from a life-threatening accident, against Sri Lanka in 2024. He got out after scoring just 6 runs.
