In reply, the Royals put up a brave fight but fell short by 44 runs in spite of fifties from Sanju Samson – who played as an ‘Impact Player’ – and Dhruv Jurel. Samson will not be leading the side in the first three matches of IPL 2025 at least after failing to get clearance from NCA to resume wicketkeeping after a fracture in his finger.
Both RR and KKR need significant improvement in their bowling if they home to bounce back from reverses in the first match. “We are not too worried about it,” KKR bowling coach Bharat Arun said in the pre-match press conference. “There are a lot of positives from the first game, and some lessons to be learned as well.”
The coach emphasized on the team’s resilience, pointing out that the key to success lies in seizing critical moments during matches.
