New Delhi: Recently, former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli met his old friend Sachin Tendulkar at an event. Seeing Kambli’s current condition, many Indian fans were quite shocked. In the meantime, India’s Union Minister Amit Shah has revealed details about an old conversation he had with Kambli. Shah shared that he met Kambli during an event, where Kambli also told him about the thing that brings him the most happiness.

Amit Shah Recalls His Meeting with Kambli

In fact, during their meeting, Shah had asked Kambli what gives him the most happiness. The answer the former cricketer gave was something the Union Minister didn’t expect.

Recalling that incident, Shah said at an event

“During a cricket event in Chennai, I met Vinod Kambli. By then, he had already retired, but at one point, he was considered a very good batsman. I asked Vinod to tell me about a time when he was the happiest, despite all the ups and downs he had faced. I expected him to say he was happiest when he scored a double century. However, he replied, ‘Sir, I have left many great players behind and broken several records, but I am still the happiest when I teach a young player how to play on the backfoot.’”

It is worth mentioning that Vinod Kambli made his debut for Team India in 1991 and played 104 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 17 Test matches. This left-handed batsman was once considered India’s most promising new talent, but his career didn’t unfold as expected.

He holds the record for being the fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in Test cricket in terms of innings. He was also the third player to score two consecutive double centuries in the Test format.

According to former Indian fast bowler Balwinder Sandhu, Kapil Dev is ready to offer financial help to Vinod Kambli, but only when he is ready to go for rehabilitation. Now, it remains to be seen whether Kambli is willing to take that step or not.
