Heinrich Klaasen-led South Africa will take on Mohammad Rizwan’s Pakistan in the first T20 of the three-match series starting at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Tuesday, December 10.
Pakistan cricket team will begin their all-format tour of South Africa with the first T20I in the three-match series at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Tuesday. The visiting team will have all their big guns back including former captains Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi for the T20I series.
The three-match ODI series will follow the T20 games, which will act as a build-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 next year with Pakistan are hosting. South Africa will be heading into the T20I series on the back of their 3-1 series loss to India last month.
However, the home side will be led by a new skipper – Heinrich Klaasen, who was retained for a whopping Rs 23 crore by the Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. SA, who are the T20 World Cup 2024 finalists, will know that Pakistan have a better record in bilateral T20 matches against them – having won 12 out of the 22 matches so far.
The hosts will be missing their first-choice players like Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen for the T20I series. But it will be an opportunity for the likes of Rassie van der Dussen and Anrich Nortje to make a comeback into international cricket.
