The threat of rain is looming large over match No. 10 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between Afghanistan and Australia at Lahore.

The match No. 10 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between Afghanistan and Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday is a ‘must-win’ one for both sides in Group B. A win for either side will assure them a berth in the semifinal stages of the Champions Trophy to join India and New Zealand from Group A.
However, the weather in the city of Lahore might have final say in this contest as well. We have already witnessed two matches getting abandoned without a ball getting bowled at the Rawalpindi stadium this week. In the first contest on Tuesday, Australia and South Africa had to suffer while the second one was an inconsequential clash between hosts Pakistan and Bangladesh – both of whom had failed to qualify for the semis from Group A.
The weather prediction is for more wet weather in Lahore ahead of the clash between the Afghans and Australia. The maximum temperature will be around 19 degrees when the toss takes place around 2pm local time with 40 per cent cloud cover over the ground. There is a 25 per cent chance of rain around this time.
By evening, the temperature will drop down to around 16 degrees but there is only about 4 per cent chance of rain interrupting the contest in the second half of the ODI. The humidity in the evening will be around 56 per cent with 20 per cent cloud cover as well.

What will happen if the Afghanistan vs Australia match is washed out?
If match No. 10 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is washed out on Friday, then reigning ODI world champions Australia will qualify for the semifinals with 4 points to their name. Steve Smith’s side have already posted an impressive five-wicket win over England in Lahore last week, chasing down 352 to win.
They have 3 points to their name after sharing one point each with South Africa due to a washout in Rawalpindi. Afghanistan, on the other hand, only have 2 points to their name after losing to South Africa by 107 runs in Karachi and beating England by 8 runs at Lahore.
If Friday’s match in Lahore is abandoned, Afghanistan will reach 3 points and have to wait for the result in the match between South Africa and England on Saturday. If South Africa win that match or it is washed out, they will qualify for the semifinals ahead of Afghanistan.
But if England manage to beat South Africa with a massive margin, then Afghanistan can sneak through with 3 points based on the net run-rate.
