New Delhi: Cricket enthusiasts globally experienced a wave of nostalgia as India Masters defeated West Indies Masters in the final of the International Masters League (IML) 2025 on Sunday in Raipur. Under the leadership of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian team showcased a comprehensive performance, overcoming Brian Lara’s West Indies Masters by six wickets to claim the prestigious title. In addition to the impressive run chase of 149, the match featured a significant moment that captured the audience’s focus.

During India’s batting innings, ex-all-rounder Yuvraj Singh engaged in a tense exchange with former West Indies player Tino Best. This confrontation occurred in the 13th over, where both players were observed exchanging harsh remarks.

As tensions rose, figures such as Brian Lara, Ambati Rayudu, and umpire Billy Bowden promptly stepped in to separate the players.

The match had all the elements of a memorable event, with a full stadium and cricket legends showcasing their skills. Fans anticipated an exciting showdown after the India Masters restricted their opponents to a modest total of 148/7. They then established a solid 67-run opening partnership between Master Blaster Tendulkar, who scored 25, and Ambati Rayudu, who contributed 74 runs, setting a positive tone for the chase.

The India Masters showcased their batting prowess, with Tendulkar and Rayudu delivering an impressive display of classic cricketing skills to the enthusiastic crowd. Tendulkar demonstrated his elegance, skillfully navigating the field with his trademark cover drives and flicks, while Rayudu adopted a more aggressive approach, effectively overpowering the West India Masters bowling attack with strategic force.

The 51-year-old performer captivated the audience with several boundaries and a six during his smooth 18-ball innings, but a swift delivery from Tino Best brought his innings to an end, momentarily silencing the enthusiastic crowd.

Rayudu kept the excitement alive as India Masters advanced towards their target. The right-handed opener reached his fifty in just 34 balls with a boundary off Best, while his partnership with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (14) contributed an additional 28 runs to the team’s score. Mann was dismissed while trying to hit a big shot off off-spinner Ashley Nurse, which led to Yuvraj Singh (13 not out) coming to bat to enthusiastic applause.

As the India Masters appeared to be heading for an easy win, the West Indies Masters spinners managed to postpone the outcome by taking the wickets of Rayudu, who was dismissed by left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn after scoring 54 runs with nine fours and three sixes off 50 balls, and Yusuf Pathan, who was out LBW to Nurse. Nevertheless, with just 17 runs needed from the last 28 balls, Stuart Binny (16 not out) sealed the victory in impressive fashion by hitting two massive sixes.
