St Kitts & Nevis Patriots stunned Guyana Amazon Warriors by five runs in a CPL 2025 match in Providence Stadium.

The Asia Cup 2025 is set to get underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday. One big name missing from the tournament will be former Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan.
The Pakistan wicketkeeper is making a massive statement in the on-going Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 season. Turning out for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Rizwan smashed a brilliant 85 off 62 balls on a pitch where every other batter failed to get going.
Rizwan, who has been ignored by the Pakistan side for the Asia Cup 2025 tournament, smashed 3 sixes and 8 fours in his match-winning knock and almost carried his bat to the end of the innings against home side Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Providence Stadium. Thanks to Rizwan’s knock, the Patriots were able to eke out a five-run win against the Warriors.

Rizwan’s Pakistan teammate Naseem Shah delivered an ‘ice-cool’ final over that got the Patriots a much-needed victory off the final ball. With the Warriors needing 11 runs off the last over, Shah nailed his yorkers to first dismiss Keemo Paul then to concede just five runs to stun the packed stadium. The victory sees the Patriots keep their playoff hopes alive.
“When I finished my innings and went back to the pavilion, Rossouw asked me if it was a par score. I said no, it wasn’t, mainly because of the dew. But credit to the bowlers, they did a fantastic job,” Rizwan said at the post-match presentation.
“You can’t always go by modern cricket standards here because the pitches are difficult. We lost wickets early, so I took my time and built the innings. Thankfully, we bowled really well to defend the total. I always prefer opening but that’s up to the skipper and the coach. When you play in overseas leagues, it’s difficult to form the right combination,” Rizwan added.
Imran Tahir won the toss and elected to field first, his side took regular wickets but the Patriots were able to post a competitive total thanks to a brilliant 85 from 62 deliveries from Mohammad Rizwan who was dismissed in the final over.
The opener was duly named Player of the Match hit eight fours and three sixes before a mix up in the middle saw him run out with two deliveries to go in the innings.
The Warriors stayed in contention during their whole reply with the bat but without a decisive innings in the manner of Rizwan’s they ultimately fell short in the final over. An all-round tight bowling performance from the Patriots saw wickets shared across the board and a well-deserved victory at the last.
The result sees the Patriots into fifth position in the table with six points from nine games, the Warriors currently in fourth spot with 8 points from seven matches.
