Two days ahead of the tournament, the Men in Green put up a strong performance with Mohammad Nawaz picking up a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul in the defence of 141.

Nawaz claimed his first-wicket haul
Nawaz bowled sensationally, claiming his first five-wicket haul in the format and becoming only the fifth Pakistani bowler to do so. He also grabbed a hat-trick as part of his 5 wicket haul conceding just 17 runs from his four overs, becoming the first Pakistani spinner to achieve a hat-trick in this format.
Following their 75-run victory, Pakistan recorded their biggest T20I win over Afghanistan, overtaking their previous 66-run victory against them two years ago.
Nawaz started his four-over spell briliantly
Nawaz started his four over spell brilliantly as soon as he came to bowl. He dismissed Darwish Rasooli LBW on the fifth delivery of his first over and then claiming the wicket of Azmatullah Omarzai who got out on a golden duck. Nawaz gave away just one run in the over.
He completed his hat-trick in the next over, after dismissing Ibrahim Zadran with Mohammad Haris executing the stumping. Nawaz kept up his brilliant spell, as he dismissed Karim Janat LBW on the fourth delivery of the same over. He completed his five-wicket haul by sending back Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan in the 13th over, with Salman Agha taking a catch after a collision with wicketkeeper Haris.
The Afghanistan team was eventually out for just 66, which was their second-lowest T20I score. This was also Afghanistan’s lowest all-out totals in T20Is.
