Carlos Alcaraz defeats Jannik Sinner in four sets to win his second US Open title and reclaim the world No. 1 ranking with an exceptional performance.

New Delhi: Carlos Alcaraz beats his arch-rival Jannik Sinner to lift the 2025 US Open title. The much-antisipated final took place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on September 7, where Alcaraz maintained his brilliant form and delivered once again on the big stage.
After losing against Sinner in the Wimbledon 2025 final, the Spaniard bounced back in style at Flushing Meadows. Displaying dominant tennis, Alcaraz overpowered Sinner in four sets, sealing the win 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 with a brilliant all-round performance.
Notably, this was the third straight Grand Slam final between the two. By defeating Sinner, Alcaraz has also became the second-youngest player after Bjorn Borg to secure six Grand Slam titles. At just 22, he also snapped Sinner’s 27-match unbeaten run on hard courts.
Alcaraz’s raises grand slam tally to six
Often considered as the future of tennis, Alcaraz and Sinner have lived up to the tag with their outstanding displays this season. The victory in the US Open men’s single has lifted Alcaraz’s Grand Slam count to six, while Sinner stays at four major titles.
Sinner’s 27-match winning streak in hard-court Grand Slams ended as he failed to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2008 to successfully defend the US Open title.
Alcaraz praised his opponent Jannik Sinner
After securing the victory, Carlos Alcaraz stepped into the spotlight and showered praise on his opponent Jannik Sinner. The pair have become frequent rivals on the big stage, with this being their third consecutive Grand Slam final clash in 2025.
“I want to start with Jannik, it’s unbelievable what you’re doing the whole season, great level during every tournament that you’re playing … I’m seeing you more than my family. It’s great to share a court, to share the locker room, to share everything with you, I’m just really proud about the people I have around. Every achievement I’m having is because of you, thanks to you … this one is yours,” Alcaraz said after the game.
