Sleeper Vande Bharat trains: In a significant update for the residents of Delhi, Patna, Ahmedabad and Bhopal, Indian Railways is set to introduce sleeper Vande Bharat trains on long-distance routes. It has been reported that new Sleeper Vande Bharat trains are expected to be launched from Delhi to Patna, Ahmedabad and Bhopal ahead of Diwali, helping the commuters who wish to travel to their home destinations. Being designed to provide overnight travel with greater speed and comfort compared to existing options, the Sleeper Vande Bharat trains will help passengers in faster and smoother travel.
What’s the update on Delhi–Patna Sleeper Vande Bharat train route?
In the recent update, reports say that the Delhi–Patna route has already been finalised. As per media reports, the Delhi–Patna proposed Sleeper Vande Bharat will depart from Patna at 8 pm and reach Delhi at 7:30 am, with the same schedule in reverse, thus reducing the travel time to around 11.5 hours, which current takes between 12 and 17 hours.

What will be the maximum speed of Sleeper Vande Bharat express?
The Sleeper Vande Bharat will have a maximum speed of 180 kmph, allowing it to cover long distances in nearly half the time of other trains. Unlike the chair car Vande Bharat trains that operate during the day, these sleeper versions are being introduced to cater to overnight journeys of over 1,000 kilometres.
As per media reports, railway officials have indicated that these trains may be officially announced by the end of September and could start operations in early October. With heavy demand on routes such as Delhi–Ahmedabad, the move is expected to make long-distance travel more convenient, faster and premium.
