Bollywood these days has seen a rise in love stories. For some reason, even audiences—be it millennials, Gen Z as well as Gen Alpha—are craving mushy, cozy rom-coms which make them feel wholesome. Ever since Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda’s film Saiyaara was released, it created a buzz in the industry. The movie received so much love and appreciation that it quickly went on to become India’s top-grosser of 2025. Similarly, there are different directors in recent times who have come up with cute romance dramas with expectations to do the same magic on the big screens like Saiyaara. One among those films has to be Mannu Kya Karegga which is helmed by Sanjay Tripathi. Now, in an exclusive conversation with India.com, Vyom Yadav and Saanchi Bindra, who are the lead actors of the film, revealed the difference between both Mannu Kya Karegga and Saiyaara. They also spoke about what is that one thing which stands out for the former movie compared to the latter.
What Makes Mannu Kya Karegga Different From Saiyaara
When asked what is that one element in Mannu Kya Karegga that stands out compared to Saiyaara and whether they think that Mannu Kya Karegga will give tough competition to Saiyaara, first Saanchi replied by saying, “I feel there are two things here. The first one is the college campus love story which has a completely different setting compared to Saiyaara. Toh I feel woh campus wali jo love story hai woh Saiyaara se bilkul alag hai. Second thing is that our movie is a family movie, you can watch it with anyone be it your family, siblings or anyone. So for me these two things make Mannu Kya Karegga different from Saiyaara.”
‘ Both Movies Are Poles Apart’ : Vyom Yadav
On the other hand, Vyom Yadav, who plays Mannu in the film, said, “See for me koi bhi cheez against mei nahi hoti, we all are running parallel and we are trying to complement each other. So I would say that our story is completely different. I know aapne trailer dekha hoga toh aapko Saiyaara wali vibe aayi hai, that’s because abhi recently aapne wahi movie dekhi hai. And, you know that is the exact reason we wanted to make the film.”
Vyom further emphasized that if you recall a film by watching a different movie of the same genre, then people are very much in need of that particular genre to make more movies. He said, “It’s been a decade ki humne koi accha campus romance nahi dekha hai and isliye humne yeh movie banai. And, when you watch the movie and compare it with Saiyaara, then they are poles apart. Haan shayad 2 minute ke trailer mei break-up song dekh ke laga ho ki Saiyaara jaisi hai but Mannu Kya Karegga is very different.”
Mannu Kya Karegga is all set to release on September 12, 2025.
