Aadhar card news: As the significance of Aadhar card increased, linking your Aadhaar card with various government services also became critical and in the recent update, it has become mandatory for various services including bank accounts, government schemes, subsidies, PAN cards, ration cards, and LPG connections to be linked with Aadhar. As per multiple media reports, if Aadhaar is not linked at the below mentioned services, subsidies and benefits may be stopped. To link Aadhaar with a bank, visit the branch with required documents (Aadhaar, address proof, passbook copy), fill out the form, and submit it.
Where Aadhar linkage is required?
- Bank Account
- PAN Card
- Gas connection agency
- Ration card
- PF Account
To link Aadhaar with a PAN card, go to the Income Tax e-filing website, enter your Aadhaar and PAN details, validate via OTP, and complete the process. For ration cards and LPG, use the Aadhaar FaceRD app to complete e-KYC with face authentication. You can also check e-KYC status through the same method.
Govt requests parents to update children’s Aadhaar biometrics
In another significant update, the government urged parents and guardians to update their children’s Aadhaar biometrics who have reached age seven. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) reiterated the importance of completing the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children who have attained the age of seven but have not yet updated their biometrics in Aadhaar.
As per a report by IANS news agency, UIDAI said it has started sending SMS messages to the mobile numbers registered in the Aadhaar of such children for completing the MBU exercise. As per a statement by the IT Ministry, this is an existing requirement under Aadhaar, and parents or guardians can update the details of their child at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra or designated Aadhaar centre.
Notably, a child under the age of five enrols for Aadhaar by providing the photograph, name, date of birth, gender, address and documents of proof.
