Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will continue playing in the ODI format
Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma will continue playing in the ODI format after stepping away from T20Is and Tests, with Rohit also continuing as the team’s captain.
However, the BCCI is proceeding cautiously about their long-term ODI plans, with age becoming a key factor in the discussions. Rohit will be 40 and Kohli will be 39 by the time of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Their value to the team is nevertheless highlighted by their combined ODI record of 83 centuries and overs 25,000.
Even though India no longer depends on them in other formats, they still have a big influence in 50-over cricket. India’s next ODI assignment is the Australia series, which is scheduled for October 19–25. Both veterans are anticipated to be key players.
